We, the undersigned, have welcomed the Brandies' fight to get a temporary injunction in place to stop the fouling of the air in their neighbourhood, and are looking forward to their winning the permanent injunction in September.

We are now aware that, when the permanent injunction is in place, it only holds as long as the Brandies' continue to live in their home at 550 Simcoe Street. Should they decide to move, the minute the keys are handed over to the new owners, DeSantis & Estrella can burn. As you have seen, he has stockpiled wood in his barn to the rafters and has every intention of burning if given the opportunity. They do not care how the neighbours feel about the burning!

It is vitally important that you create or amend a bylaw to cover smoke emissions. No resident should ever have to worry about this type of thing happening to them. People purchase homes that they intend to be able to enjoy and relax in. They want to open their windows and enjoy fresh air. They want to be able to work or play in their yards without being smoked out by neighbours who care nothing about them but only of their selves. Speaking to these type of people gets one nowhere, as you have seen. Help is hard to come by if you don't have the money to seek legal help. For residents to have the enjoyment of their property ruined by the stench of smoke is not right. In fact, it is very, very dangerous. Try to imagine it happening to you. What would you do? You can do something now. Create or amend a bylaw to cover smoke emissions. In this age of 'greening' you can make this town a better place. Many will applaud your initiative!

Once created, the hope by many people in Canada (all provinces) and the United States (all states), is that this will snowball and help so many people who are going through what the Brandies' did. Groups are forming worldwide from this site and many others. The issue will not go away. We need innovative and understanding people to make these changes. We hope we have found them in you!

We have watched the media and are aware that this could happen to us and want some changes made to protect us, our families, and our property.

One cannot burn outdoors, yet the same health-endangering smoke can be released upon us from inside of a house. It doesn't make sense at all.

Having the noxious and dangerous smoke billowing onto your property is a 'trespass' and should be treated as so by enforcement.

We respectively ask that you amend the bylaw to include smoke emissions. Preferably banning burning in residential areas.
